Meet Chad Rankin, a certified athletic trainer based in Astoria. When Chad leaves his day job at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Astoria, he heads to local school gyms and playing fields to evaluate student athletes for concussions.
Chad says he believes it gives parents peace of mind to have him caring for their children as they participate in sports in the area. It also keeps the kids from heading to the emergency room or to the doctor's office. That way, they can focus on sports, and their studies.
This is just one of the ways that hospitals in Oregon keep people healthy and happy, sometimes before they ever need to come in. It's a win-win for everyone.
